ਫਿਰਣਾ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਤੇ ਜੋਧ ਦੋਇ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਆਨ ਕੇ ਹੋਇ । ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾ ਨੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ: ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਉਪਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੀ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸਾਡਾ ਕਲਿਆਣੁ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤਾਂ ਬਚਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਨੀਵੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਤੀ ਹੈ । ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੇ ਸੋ ਕਰਨੀ, ਪਿਛਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਉਠਿਕੇ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰਿਕੇ ਸਬਦ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸੁ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਨੀਵਾ ਰਖਣਾ, ਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣਣਾ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਨੂ ਸੇਵਕ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਇ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਨਾ, ਤੇ ਉਠਕੇ ਦੋਨੋ ਨੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਮਨਨੁ ਕਰਨਾ । ਤਾ ਓਨਾ ਦਾ ਇਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਹੋਇਆ । Phirna Khahira and Jodh were two Sikhs, who came into the sanctuary of Guru Nanak Ji and became Sikhs of Vahiguru. They requested the Guru, saying: “Please provide some means for our liberation and so we may obtain Sikhi.” Thus a command was given: “Sikhi is obtained by humbling the mind. Whatever service of Sikhs you can do with your body, do it. Wake up in the last phase of the night and bathe, then practice the Shabad and keep your mind humble. Recognize Vahiguru as the Master and yourself as a servant. Join with the Sadh Sangat with love in your mind and listen to the Shabad of the Guru, and then after getting up you should should reflect (embrace) that Bani." Thus, in this manner, they were saved.
