Four months on a little kheer, four months on water, then nothing. When Guru Gobind Singh gives up even water at Naina Devi, Koer Singh has the gods tremble — for their own thrones: When the Satguru gave up even that, Indra, seeing it, trembled. Varun, Brahma, Shesh, the Sun — all trembled and thought in their hearts: "Lest the Guru please the Mother and snatch away our lordship." Crores of heavens and thousands of thrones are visible in these feet. Crores of Devis and devas, givers of boons — none is equal to the Guru's lotus feet. [[Gurbilas Patshahi Dasvi]] (1751), author: Koer Singh Chapter 8, page 96, Ashok ed. [[Gurbilas]]
