When Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa, many egotistical Rajputs of the Shivalik Hills refused to join, thinking that in a community where all are equal, their elite status would be lost. Koer Singh in Gurbilas Patshahi Dasvi (1751) records how Guru Gobind Singh responds:⁣ ⁣ ਚਿੜੀਅਨ ਪਰ ਅਬ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹਮਾਰੀ । ਮਾਰੇ ਬਾਜ ਸੁ ਅਪਰ ਮੰਝਾਰੀ ।⁣ *Guru Gobind Singh saying* "Our love is directed at our humble/low class sparrows - they will create much destruction within the elites - the predatory hawks. ⁣ ⁣ ਮੈ ਅਸਿਪਾਨਜ ਤਦ ਸੁ ਕਹਾਊਂ । ਚਿੜੀਅਨ ਪੈ ਜੌ ਬਾਜ ਤੁੜਾਊਂ ।⁣ Only call me a Sword-Bearer if my sparrow-like followers swoop down on the predatory-elite hawks, bringing them down in pieces!"⁣ ⁣ [[Gurbilas Patshahi Dasvi]] (1751), author: Koer Singh ⁣ Chapter 9 - Page 118 ⁣ [[Gurbilas]] ![[asi.jpg]]
