# Garab Ganjani Tika *1829 · Kavi Santokh Singh* Written in 1829 under the patronage of Raja Udai Singh of Kaithal, this is Santokh Singh's commentary on Guru Nanak's Japu Ji, exploring both its meanings and its poetic devices. Santokh Singh — renowned as the Mahākavī, the Great Poet — uses the text to demonstrate the poetic complexity of Japu Ji, so that it can in many ways be read as an *alankār śāstrā*, a guide to poetics. The text has yet to be translated in full.
